About Chuck Syme

Chuck Syme is a self-employed tour guide in Gold River and Nootka Sound. A graduate of the heritage programme of Selkirk College in 1999, Chuck's focus is on the groups he serves. Chuck has no agenda and has no advocacy other than helping visitors get maximum enjoyment from their visit. While preferring the light-hearted Chuck nevertheless does not shy away from the difficult. He is aware that history can involve serious subject matter and, when questions of this nature do arise, Chuck tries to provide balanced perspectives. Chuck is also aware that certain stories are First Nations oral property and, because of this, he properly refers inquiries of this nature to a Mowachaht / Muchalaht representative. Chuck appreciates the hospitality of Chief Michael Maquinna in traditional territory and the openness of Yuquot (Friendly Cove), a location of tremendous historical importance in British Columbia.
